A new farmhouse on forty acres, drawn to look as though it had always been there and furnished for a family that arrives on Friday nights.
We joined the architect before framing to set the interior details: a board-formed concrete hearth, white oak floors laid wide, and a kitchen built around a single long table rather than an island.
The furnishing leans on textiles — linen, wool, a few pieces of old leather — against painted plaster, so the rooms read as calm in summer light and warm in winter.
